John King is the founder of Apis Group, LLC, a messaging and product development firm whose clients include industry and academia.

A natural entrepreneur whose credits include the reclamation of an abandoned 36-acre farm into a beautiful homestead, his interest in messaging originated when studying zoology at the University of Georgia.

"Chevrons, stripes, colored patches, and other natural identifiers communicate what something is and whether we should pick it up or leave it alone," he says.  "Messaging is all around us.  Our ability to appreciate what is being communicated depends upon our personalities.  The natural world and consumer goods products all use ideas to attract our attention."

With over 20 years of experience working in the North American packaging industry in sales, sales management, product development, and marketing, John's passion is R & D, product commercialization, and writing.

He is the active president of the Madison County (GA) Habitat for Humanity affiliate (www.mcghfh.org); and an Institute of Packaging Professionals Southeastern chapter board member (www.iopp.org/southeastern).

On the Colbert, GA farm (www.bigercreek.com), he lives with his family, one horse, one cat, two dogs, over 20 chickens, and numerous pecan trees that are over 100 years old.

He holds a B.S., Zoology, from the University of Georgia.
